The Gen Y Project
This is a research project geared towards the creation of a book (and supporting media) that will reach 3 key audiences:
- Connected Generation Individuals - to help them understand why and how coaches and mentors can assist them in succeeding and learn how to seek them out
- Coaches / Leaders of Other Generations - to identify and overcome their shortcomings in working with and leading Connected Generation members
- Connected Generation Leaders - to understand and develop strategic alliances with their older counterparts which capitalize on the collective wisdom of both generation's leaders
Our Premise
Our premise is that coaching, as it is currently marketed and offered, and leadership, as it is practiced today in many organizations, will not:
- Reach younger generations with relevance or value in their lives
- Assist organizational leaders in developing their younger staff in a way that will inspire and retain them
- Inspire younger generations to utilize coaches or follow leaders if respect for Gen Y knowledge, skills, and abilities are not respected or empowered
- Establish sustainable relationships or environments which challenge and grow future leaders
- Compellingly unleash greatness or boost success in the lives of connected without bridging the communication and understanding gap between the generations.
Our Stand
As the principals for the Gen Y Project, we are taking a bold stand to change the way our education system is training our next generation of leaders. We are committed to seeing to it that children and young adults are not only taught the basics of reading, writing and math but the life and artistic skills needed to live a rich and rewarding life and to lead others to unprecendented levels of accomplishment. In our commitment to this cause, we will be donating 15% of all book profits to an educational institution which is dedicated to this stand. We will be announcing the educational institution of our choice in the first quarter of 2007.
